LOES

A Long time ago, in the Rotterdam neighbourhood of Carnisse, Loes started to knit. Sweater by sweater she built a colourful wall around her: her way of surviving.

In 2012 Museum Rotterdam discovered Loes´ multicolour treasure during research in Carnisse. Her life's work was made part of the story of Rotterdam.

The museum, Wandschappen and artist Christien Meindertsma decided to organise a joyful flashmob with the people of Carnisse dancing past Loes´ home dressed in her sweaters. For a moment, Loes felt like the queen of Carnisse.
